How to Connect to Wi-Fi on Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch

Connecting to Wi-Fi

Open Networks

To connect to an open Wi-Fi network, simply go to "Settings > Wi-Fi" and select the network you want to connect to. You will not need to enter a password.

Secure Networks

To connect to a secure Wi-Fi network, you will need to enter the network's password. Once you have entered the password, your device will remember it for future connections. If the network is not listed under "Settings > Wi-Fi," it may be hidden. To connect to a hidden network, tap on "Other" and enter the network name (SSID) and password.

Public Wi-Fi

Public Wi-Fi networks are often available in public places such as coffee shops, restaurants, and libraries. To connect to a public Wi-Fi network, simply select the network you want to connect to and follow the prompts. You may need to agree to the network's terms of service before you can connect.

Troubleshooting

If you are having trouble connecting to a Wi-Fi network, there are a few things you can try:

  • Make sure that Wi-Fi is turned on in "Settings > Wi-Fi."
  • Check to make sure that you are within range of the Wi-Fi router.
  • Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  • Forget the Wi-Fi network and then reconnect to it.

If you are still having trouble connecting to a Wi-Fi network, you may need to contact your ISP or the network administrator.
